Cataract could be treated without surgery

14 April 2008 8:47

eye.jpegMore than 3 million people in the US are affected each year by cataract. One of these people was Rajiv Bhushan’s father, who was diagnosed with cataract six years ago, the only solution being surgery.

Rajiv Bhusan, an electrical engineer, wanted to avoid this, so he started working on a chemical solution that would clear his father’s vision and help many other people. This could be the first effective non-surgical treatment. The medicine is called C-KAD and, if the tests are successful, it might be found in drugstores in two years time.
