Children should drink milk to avoid osteoporosis
Drinking milk during childhood reduces the risk of developing osteoporosis. This is the conclusion of a study that was conducted by British experts from the Southampton University. The result was announced at a conference which is taking place during this week at Barcelona.

The study is part of a research program whose purpose is to gain a better understanding of osteoporosis. During 4 years over 12.500 women were monitored, before and after they gave birth. Afterwards, a group of 250 new born babies were kept under medical observation. The conclusion regarding the bone system was that the children who drank more milk had stronger bones that the others.
These results point out the importance of genetic factors as well as environmental factors. Specialists or now testing to see whether vitamin D could help to improve the bone mass.
