Study warned of China quake risk
The earthquake that struck the Sichuan Province on May 12 was predicted nearly ten months ago by a scientific study.

The warning was issued by scientists after examining sattelite images and conducting inspections of the deep, active faults in Sichuan Province for more than a decade. After these examinations, they concluded that the clashing tectonic forces were growing in the region, ready to burst in high seismic activity. Researchers managed to chart the active faults with high precision, and this turned out to be the actual epicenter of the recent earthquake.
The earthquake that struck on May 12 had a magnitude of 7.9, and it caused severe damage in the Sichuan Province. Chinese officials estimated a number of 50.000 deaths and that nearly 5 million people are now homeless.
