Product Description

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, acne affects between 40 and 50 million patients annually, making it the most common skin condition in the United States.

Traditional approaches involve a combination of oral and topical antibiotics admixed with topical keratylytics and retinoids. These therapies seek to reduce inflammation, remove bacteria, and unclog pores; however, they are limited by side effects, tolerability and patient compliance.

Further, with escalating concern over bacterial resistance, the use of oral antibiotics is increasingly being called into question.

Traditional therapies may also be limited in their ability to get to the root cause of the disease. The protective biofilm produced by propionibacterium acne may prevent treatments from penetrating the pores and effectively attacking acne-causing bacteria.

Next Science™ studied the use of a topical agent designed to reduce the P. acnes biofilm to determine whether eradicating the biofilm would prove to be therapeutically efficacious.

Our efficacy data shows parity with proven, traditional topical agents. Next Science™ Acne Treatment Gel delivered these impressive results with no systemic or cutaneous adverse events. As such, we can expect a high level of patient compliance and superior healing while using our product.

The Next Science™ Acne Treatment Gel is a topical gel material containing salicylic acid. This gel uses the minimum concentration of salicylic acid (0.5%) along with ingredients that optimize the efficacy of the salicylic acid by breaking down and solubilizing the protective extracellular polysaccharide, which encapsulates the P. acnes in the biofilm within the pores.

The low concentration of salicylic acid facilitates effective treatment of P. acnes bacteria with minimal tissue toxicity or irritation.
