China will control the weather during the Olympics

13 April 2008 11:35

As the Olympic games are getting closer and closer, Chinese authorities are making the final preparations for this event. A problem that was very difficult to solve is the rainy climate, but the Weather Modification Office in Beijing has managed to come up with a solution.

With the help of supercomputers, aircrafts and artillery, the Chinese will be able to stop any precipitation that might hit the stadium, Bird’s Nest, which has 91.000 seats. The weather conditions will be monitored with the aid of the IBM p575 supercomputer, which will model a 44.000 square kilometers map in order to forecast the weather.

If any rain chances occur, the clouds will be dissipated by using two airplanes and twenty artillery and rocket launch positions.
