Japanese Brewery introduces “Space Beer”
Japan’s famous Sapporo Holdings Ltd. is planning to launch a new product which will take beer to a whole new level. This new type of beer will be produced in collaboration with scientists at the Okayama University in Japan, by using a third generation of barley grains which have spent five months on the International Space Station in 2006.
Still, scientists have not found any difference between the space grown barley and the earth grown one. Growing barley in space was part of a project which is aimed towards investigating how edible plants can be grown in space.
Unfortunately, people will have to wait until they can taste this new type of beer, because the company will only produce 100 bottles of beer which will not be sold commercially.
